Westcott CC is committed to providing a safe environment for your children to learn about, and participate in, cricket. To do this we are required by the England and Wales Cricket board (ECB) to comply with several regulations designed with your children’s safety and well-being in mind. You should check this part of our club website from time to time to hear the latest about how we are trying to safeguard your children. Several years ago the club formally adopted the ECB’s policy for safeguarding your children into our rules. This policy is called “Safe Hands”. Leaflets about this policy are displayed on the cricket noticeboards in the Clubhouse.

In addition to broader child safeguarding issues, we make sure that we comply with safety directives from the ECB that apply to playing cricket specifically. For example: these limit the number of overs that young bowlers can bowl in a day during matches and practice sessions, and require young players to wear helmets while batting or keeping wicket when playing or practising with a hard ball. These safety regulations regarding playing cricket are also documented on the Safe Hand website given above.
