Junior Cricket Coaching

For over 25 years, Westcott Cricket Club (WCC) has been fostering the love of cricket among juniors. Our inclusive approach caters to youngsters of all ages and skill levels, creating a warm and supportive environment for their cricket development. Emphasizing active participation, we provide opportunities for friendly matches against neighboring junior teams. Our dedicated volunteer coaches, equipped with accredited training, ensure the highest standards of safeguarding to guarantee a secure learning space for all juniors.

Training and Matches:

  • Friday night training sessions (6.30-8.00 pm) from May to mid-August at our scenic Westcott ground offer a perfect learning environment.
  • Weekend matches on Saturdays or Sundays provide practical experience.
  • Older juniors aged 14 and above seamlessly transition into our adult sides.
  • In 2024, a new development side is introduced to further cultivate older juniors into regular adult cricket.

Membership Expansion:

In 2024, our focus is on expanding junior membership, particularly for children in school years 4-7. We’ve joined the national ECB All Stars scheme, catering to children aged 5-8, with sessions preceding our main Friday training. To sign up for all stars, visit the ECB All Stars website.

Coaches required

We currently need more coaches to help on Friday evenings and weekend matches. Many of the past coaches have been parents who have taken their ECB Coaching Qualification and coached varying age groups. The club can help fund putting volunteers through obtaining their ECB Coaching Qualifications so if you are interested, please contact Alan Pickering.
