To amplify the reasons for the awards,

Mike Shaw took as many catches as anyone else in the Sat 1s as an outfielder but he fielded in only half the games; in the other half he was behind the stumps and took a similar amount of catches in those games.

James Musgrave won the club's two senior batting awards -- in the Sun 1s he averaged around 75 and scored 200 runs more than anyone else, putting him second in the VCL's batting awards and contributing to him winning the league's allrounder trophy. In the Sat 1s he scored the most runs and scored the season's highest individual score (120), again putting him close to the SDL's first division batsman's award.

In the Sat 1s Hughes again was the dominant bowler with 45 wickets and he will be in contention for the SDL 1's bowler of the year again, an award he has won 2 of the last 3 years.

In the Sat 2s, Guy Parker relinquished his perennial grip on the bowling trophy (which he has won for 5 of the last 6 years), this time the award was won by Dave Cain, only for Guy to win the batting award hands down. Dave had won the batting award last year but this year he had a rather precipitous drop in form. However, this had the silver lining of winning him the Dave Beer trophy for the most ducks in the season, narrowly pipping Pete Moore for this one. Fred Hunter won his first senior award as Sat 2s fielder for his excellent keeping.

Sun 2s batting was won by Alex Marshall whose 98 was the best innings by a distance (the next highest score all season was 50). Ed Murphy's consistently great fielding won him Westcott's Sun 2s fielder and this was recognised also with the award of the VCL 2s fielder of the season

The Sunday bowling awards went to two first time award winners, Will Ball with 18 wickets for the 1s, and Ben Kirk for the 2s despite Ben normally being an opening bat. Ben was having such a poor season with the bat that he asked to do some bowling, with great results.

Sun 1s fielder was Tom Shrives who was a strong contender for several other awards. His brother Josh won the Andy Keay Memorial Cup for most improved adult player with consistently excellent bowling and, out of nowhere, a dramatic improvement in his previously comical batting. That just leaves room for some improvement in Josh's outfielding!

Dan Anderson won the Pete Moore award for Commitment, for being an almost ever-present for the Sunday 2s despite their long losing streak.

Timian Brierley won the new "Gunner" award for fastest 50, taking him only 19 balls, snatching the award with almost his last innings of the season.

Clubman of the year went to superfan Keith Gregory who watched most Saturdays and Sundays; but Keith is no average fan, he helped skippers and tea-makers alike by each week putting out the scoreboard and boundary markers, helping serve the tea, and doing the washing up. It was particularly nice that this year Keith watched his son Alex's many fine performances which earned him junior of the year, narrowly pipping Will Ball in the committee's decision.
